Zed Kenzo (she/they), 2020, Mural, 48″ x 36″

While normalizing the toting of masks and vigilance in bodily awareness, these black figures relish in one another’s company while physically separated.  Each solely occupy their composition, but partake in a grander conversation on their electronic devices to satiate their emotional longing for community. This series of panels, created in collaboration with LaNia Sproles, acknowledge the obligation black people have vested in one another’s lives.

Zed Kenzo is a musical artist from Milwaukee. Vaeth and Kenzo met as part of the gener8tor entrepreneurial program. This mural found its home at the Sherman Phoenix through this relationship.

The mural is located at the Sherman Phoenix Marketplace.
